Craft : Navajo Sand Painting

Craft Picture

Navajo Indians made beautiful sand paintings inside their homes. Make some of your own!

Craft Project Directions:
To make this craft project you will need some white sand, food coloring, several small jars or containers with tops, glue, cardboard, a brush, water, and a work area. To begin, pour a small bit of sand into the jars and add food coloring. Put on the top and shake the jar to mix the color and let it dry in the sun. Make as many different colors as you want. Now take a piece of cardboard and trace or draw a picture you want to color. Next brush glue onto the picture and cover an area with a color of sand. Let it dry and brush off the excess sand. Repeat the process with more colors until your picture is 'painted'. Enjoy Crafting!
