Hummingbirds are small birds which live only in the Western Hemisphere. There are more than 300 species of hummingbirds, 19 of which live in the United States. Hummingbirds can hover in mid-air by rapidly beating their wings. This creates a humming noise for which they are known. Hummingbirds feed on the nectar of plants and eat insects as well. The Bee Hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world.
