Wampanoag

The Wampanoag lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the Islands and were the tribe which celebrated Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims. One of their most famous chiefs was Metacomet (also known as King Philip), the son of Massasoit. They were farmers who grew corn, beans, pumpkins, and squash, and they fished and hunted. They built and lived in dome-shaped wigwams in villages along the coast. They made clothing out of fur and skin, beautiful clay pottery, and dugout canoes.
