Nootka

The Nootka lived on the Northwest coast in parts of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. They were whalers and boat builders. They had many whaling ceremonies. In addition to hunting whales, they also hunted seals, sea lions, and salmon. They built cedar dugout canoes and lived in large plank houses. They made basketry hats. They called themselves Nuu-Chah-Nulth.
