Inuit is a term which refers to the culturally similar indigenous peoples inhabiting the Arctic from northern Alaska eastward to eastern Greenland, particularly those of Canada. Inuit means 'people' or 'real people' and comes from the language Inuit-Inupiaq. The singular of Inuit is Inuk. Inuit culture developed more than 1000 years ago.
