Italy is a country with a rich cultural history located in Southern Europe. The capital of Italy is Rome. The official language of Italy is Italian. Italy is comprised of the boot-shaped peninsula which extends into the Mediterranean Sea as well as the islands of Siciliy and Sardinia. Two countries are located inside of Italy's borders- the country of San Marino and Vatican City. Italy has two mountain ranges which run through it- the Alps in the North and the Apennines running the length of the peninsula. Italy has many world famous cities - Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan.
